SILVIO DI LORETO

Silvio Di Loreto is known affectionately in the Santa Barbara area as the "Godfather of Real Estate."

He was the President of Sunset Co Realtors for forty years While managing the company it was recognized by the Santa Barbara News Press and The Independent two publications in this area as the best real estate company in Santa Barbara. He also serves as an expert witness in litigation involving Real Estate.

Silvio is still very active in the community donating many hours to such causes SCORE. He is currently serving his third year as Chairman. SCORE is an agency of the Federal Government associated with the SBA ( Small Business Administration) It's mission is to help people in business. All of their services are provided freely and none of the consellors receive compensation for their services. He also provides the same services nationally as an e-mail counselor.

He was honored as a recipient of the 1991 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Santa Barbara News Press and received the Anti-Defamation League Award in 1989.

His pancakes have become famous at the annual Kiwanian Pancake Breakfast. Silvio has donated his time and energy for over 28 years of the 50+ years the breakfast has been served. He also participates in the I- Madonnari festival, which donates its income to the Childrens Creative Arts Project. His cooking show is sponsored by the Italian community and is seen regularly on Channel 17 television.

During his many years in Santa Barbara, he has served as a board member or officer for many organizations in the area including Friendship Center, Santa Barbara Mental Health, Calm & the Victorian Theater Hall, Transition House, Valle Verde, City College Foundation, Santa Barbara Symphony, Aeromedico and others. He also served as a volunteer mediator with the Santa Barbara Rental Housing Mediation Task Force for over 27 years.

He was honored by the SB Newspress as cook of the week in 2002. In his spare time, he enjoys snow skiing, flying, gardening; foraging for wild mushrooms, and scuba diving. He took a trip to the South Pacific a few years ago where he dove at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Cook Islands and also with Jean Michel Costeau's dive team in Fiji. He does underwater digital video photography in diverse areas around the world from the Carribean to the Philippines. He also has played clarinet in the Prime Time band and the Prime Time Silver Band since 1995. He recently enrolled in a Pottery class.

He has four children and 6 grand children. His son Dante recently received an Emmy for a movie he produced for ShowTime television.
