ICHF ~ Italian Cultural Heritage Foundation of Santa Barbara
Mission Statement
The purpose of the Italian Cultural Heritage foundation is to foster greater understanding of the culture, history, language and arts of Italy, past and present, by providing funds for scholarships, research, education, worthy institutions and by sponsoring cultural programs and events.

Italian
Classes |
Adult Conversation Classes: Italian classes, sponsored by ICHF, have been very popular over the last several years. Currently, adult Italian Conversation Classes are the only classes being held. There is more information under Calendario on this website. |
Elementary School Classes: Stefania Katera, a native Italian, teaches beginning Italian to students in first through 6th grades at Peabody School. The program, begun in Fall, 2004, has been very popular with the children there. ICHF sponsors the classes. |

Scholarship & Awards Programs |
SBCC Scholarship Awards: Since 2001, scholarships have been awarded to SBCC students going to Italy in the Students Abroad program. The students compete by submitting an essay upon a subject selected annually by the ICHF Board of directors. |
UCSB Award program: A program to honor outstanding Italian study students at UCSB has been in operation for several years. |

Cultural
Events |
Cinema Italiano: Since 2003, ICHF has sponsored an Italian Film Festival each fall. The film festival runs 3 days and presents 4 - 5 films. In 2006, the festival began a new format and runs one film each weekend for 3 consecutive weekends. |
| Concerts:Several musical evenings with local Italian musicians have been presented. Others will be presented when opportunities arise. | |
| I-Madonnari: ICHF has participated with UNICO in sponsoring a square at the local I Madonnari Festival held each Memorial Day at the old Mission. The festival benefits the Children's Creative Project, a non-profit arts education program for elementary and secondary students. | |
Endowed Scholarship Program |
Ruggero J. Aldisert Fund: ICHF has started a Genealogy Program for (currently) local people of Italian Heritage. Not a "family tree" ICHF is currently working to establish and endowed scholarship in the name of the Honorable Judge Ruggero J. Aldisert:
Judge, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
Commissioned 1968, Served as chief judge, 1984-1986.
Assumed senior status on December 31, 1986.

Genealogy Program |
ICHF is currintly creating beautiful customized book for Italian families. The books are dedicated to the honorable Ruggero J. Aldisert, a Santa Barbara resident. He was instrumental in creating the local genealogy program so important family histories won't be lost.B. Johnson, in July, 1968. |

The corporation is organized under the Non-Profit Public Benefit Law of California (the "Nonprofit Law") for the charitable and public purposes. It is a nonprofit public benefit corporation, and is not organized for the private gain of any person. |
